Graduation from an accredited technical school with emphasis on diesel engine or power generation repair may be substituted for experience.
Successful completion of apprentice period.
Job/ Tasks Required
Clean, repair, recondition mechanical & electrical parts and components
Prepare electrical equipment for delivery.
Remove, disassemble, assemble, and install engine & electrical components and parts. Perform maintenance activities on new, and rebuilt/repaired engine & electric
component as directed.
Service and maintains electrical equipment sold and/or owned by the company. Test, measure, and adjust engine electircal systems and components.
Accurately prepare service reports as required. Communicate details of technical problems to supervisors.
Keep up to date with developments in tooling, technologies and systems. Use safe working practices.
Maintain acceptable dress and decorum. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Ability, and Skills
Diesel or gasoline engine maintenance, engine & electrical systems operation and systems component application.
General knowledge of diesel engine systems and components. Theories and applications of electrical and electronic systems.
Communicate with service technicians and supervisory personnel. Follow safe working procedures.
Use hand and air tools.
Follow clear verbal and written instructions.
Assist others in the repair and service of and/or fuel systems when needed. Operate various types of cleaning equipment.
Read basic electric wiring, diagrams and schematics. Skills:
Uses parts ordering system. Initiates parts salvage requests
Maintains inspection, quality, and service reports
Performs other related tasks and activities as directed.
Displays mechanical & electrical aptitude and ability while performing assigned tasks.
Performs assigned duties with a high level of cooperation.
Re-do’s, due to mechanic’s error, do not exceed 5% of labor hours.
100% of all jobs correctly charged to the assigned work order, segments, and operations numbers as evidenced by job reviews and invoices of each work order.
80% of all parts-orders are complete and correct at the time of order input.
Service reports and time cards are complete, legible, understandable and submitted on time.
No cases occur where the customer’s or the company’s equipment is damaged due to mechanic’s neglect or abuse.
All parts returns are complete and/or warranty parts tagged and entered into system in a clean, preserved, acceptable fashion.
Makes repairs according to published guidelines and recommendations.
Maintains a neat and clean work area.
Abides by all company policies and procedures.
